The Ship

Beta Leonis is a Trintella V of 48ft from 1974. She was designed by AG Van de Stadt, an international ship designer and built by Anne Wever Shipyard, renowned for their high quality ship building. Trintella V was their ‘flag’ and biggest ship or as they wrote themselves:

“Those who want comfort, space, quality and optimal seaworthiness demand a lot. The Trintella V guarantees these qualities. A ship that commands respect, a majestic appearance on all the world's seas.”

After only having 2 different owners over 45 years whom took very good care of Beta Leonis, we bought the ship in 2019 to make a 1 year and a half long trip from Belgium to the Caribbean in 2021/2022 with our family. In preparation for this long trip, I extended the comfort and provided Beta Leonis with extra equipment for off grid traveling. The galley was extended with modern cooking equipment. I added a generator and transformer to provide electricity. I installed a water maker to transform sea water into drinkable water and all double beds were adapted to give ‘home’ sleeping comfort.

Now Beta Leonis is ready to welcome you for an unforgettable trip!

Admiral’s cabin

(2 to 3 people)

The luxury and spaciest room on the ship.

Big windows provide you a fantastic view over the surroundings on 3 sides.

1 double bed (140x200cm) with latoflex and a comfortable thick mattress, just like at home.

1 single bed (70x185cm) with a special boating foam mattress.

A room worthy of an admiral!

Commodore’s cabin

(2 to 3 people)

The room in the belly of the ship. This is the cabin where the ship moves the least, even in a rough sea.

1 double bed (120x195cm) with special boating springs and a comfortable thick mattress like you're used to at home.

1 single bed (80x195cm) with a special boating foam mattress.

A room where the Commodore finds his peace.

The saloon can be transformed into a bed.

It becomes a long double bed (110x210cm) with a special boating foam mattress. The bed is in the central living room of the ship where people may pass by.

Galley

The kitchen of the ship is fully equipped with an induction cooking plate, an oven, an Italian coffee machine, a milk foamer, a water cooker, a fridge and a freezer.

Everything you need for long comfortable trips.

Heads

There are 2 heads on the ship with a sink and electrical toilets (no manual pumping!).

The aft head is equipped with a shower. (little tip from the Skipper: the best showering is on the swimming platform outside, it’s a shower with a view of the surroundings!)

Living Room

Centrally in the belly of Beta Leonis you can find the saloon and the chart table.

The place where you have a view all around

It breaths the grandeur of the traditional woodwork.

The saloon can be turned into a double bed and becomes the Seaman’s bunk.

Cockpit

The ship has a midship cockpit which gives a lot of comfort and stability during sailing.

It’s the heart of the ship, there where you sail, where people meet, eat, …. It's the place where you'll spend a lot of time on board.

There’s a big central table and cushions all around to make it a cozy place.

It has a fixed roof with solar panels and glass front windows. The cockpit can be completely closed off by the sides and back in canvas for a chilly evening but can also be opened completely to create a refreshing draught on warm days.

Aft Deck

The aft deck is a wide space where you can read a book, sun tan, play a game, … in short enjoy being close to the water in a stunning setting

Hi, I’m Tim, the skipper, 48 years old.

For me, sailing is about being on the water in beautiful surroundings combined with the technicalities of sailing and everything in and around a boat.

If you can share that passion with others and give them wonderful moments on the water, then it is complete!

The sailing bug was passed on to me as a child by a family friend who took me out on his boat on the North Sea a few times in the summer.

Like many others, I subsequently learned to sail on an open boat on a lake, which gradually developed into holidays on cabin yachts. In between, various licenses were obtained to complete my knowledge.

In 2019, we bought Beta Leonis, which I renovated myself to prepare her to set sail for an off grid journey. Thanks to these renovation works I know Beta Leonis inside out. In 2021, we left as a family to sail to the Caribbean in a year and a half, all the way to Panama and back again.

Now, a couple of years later, I love to share all these experiences with others and give them an unforgettable journey on a classic ketch
